Surprising submitted by Marian on June 19, 2014, 11:29am I thought of Walter Mosley as a mystery writer and was surprised by this very different and very satisfying story. At several points it seemed to be leading to a violent, predictable outcome, but Socrates Fortlow is a thinker and his actions are not what you'd expect of someone convicted of a killing he readily admits. The narrator, Peter Francis James, is excellent.
