COMMUNITY REVIEWS

NOT the Kevin Kline/Linda Ronstadt/Angela Lansbury version version submitted by mozdzenj on April 23, 2012, 2:51pm The wrong cover image is shown. The top of the cover image claims: Kevin Kline, Linda Ronstadt, Rex Smith, and Patricia Routledge. The cover image shows of KK, LR, and AL from the 1980 version in which Ruth was played by Patricia Routledge instead of Angela Lansbury. The 1983 version has Angela Lansbury as Ruth.
THIS VERSION IS THE 1982 OPERA WORLD PRODUCTION, which has fairly bad reviews.
It would be more useful to tell the various version apart, if AADL displayed production date, rather than DVD release date.
This 1982 version has a published date of 2007 added in parentheses after the title, but only in some situations.
The 1980 version with Angela Lansbury has a published date of 2010 added in parenthesis after the title, sometimes.
Year published is pendantically correct but useless information.
AADL has included production date in the title of some DVDs in a way that destroys the title search. For example, a title search will not find either the Jack Benny or Mel Brooks version of "To Be Or Not To Be," (try it) because the production date has been made part of the title. One has to already know to search for "To Be Or Not To Be 1942" and to search for "To Be Or Not To Be 1983." The 1942 version has "year published" as 2005. The 1983 version has "year published" as 2006.
So, this is not the DVD you were looking for. You can go about your business. Move along, move along.
