Super Excellent!!! submitted by strawberryhead on June 23, 2016, 12:06am I have seen this so many times. It is often played on PBS when they are fundraising. Then I checked out the DVD. I probably watch this two or three times a year. I love old films, the narrators voice. Just transports you to a happy place. Makes me want to move to the middle of nowhere and live in a cabin.

Excellent: Alone in the Wilderness submitted by kwein on May 16, 2020, 12:35pm Special meaning for me. My father was a forest biologist and life long naturalist. In spite of the responsibilities of family and home, he continued to pursue his passion for the out of doors and self sufficiency on a 40 acre woodland lot in western Washtenaw County. He cut trees, woodcrafted using traditional tools and tried to be true to himself while raising a family. At age 75, I dropped him off at the Ranger 2 in Houghton Michigan where he took off with his backpack to spend two weeks on his own on Isle Royal, hiking and enjoying the wilderness. He had the skills and inner resources to do what this man did. I am just sorry that he didn't have the opportunity to view these videos. Guess he lived them in his own way.
