excellent introduction to pagan practice
submitted by kenllama on May 29, 2008, 1:41pm
This book is by far the best instruction to the practice of modern paganism that I've ever read. Thorn Coyle writes clearly and incisively, an excellent blend of theory, practice, theology, and daily life.
She is writing from within the context of the Anderson Feri tradition, a branch of modern paganism that is not closely connected to the more popular Wiccan tradition(s). Although she is writing from within that context, much of what she offers is not so theologically-specific that it pertains only to those working within that framework.
The core of Coyle's work is the development of a daily practice: meditation, prayer, dance, etc. Building on that foundation, she offers tools for personal development and increasing awareness and strength in our lives. This is not a spellbook or a "cookbook" for dealing with particular issues; rather, it is a work-book full of tools with which to transform our lives, our consciousness, and our world.
Highly recommended.
