Definitely worth hearing Douglas Adams read his own words submitted by cherylo on July 26, 2011, 7:19pm I've been a Hitchhiker's fan since my sister and I stumbled upon the BBC TV series of it in the 1980s being broadcast on the Detroit public TV station (WTVS) late on weekend nights after a music video show. Each incarnation of the story (Radio program, books, TV series, Infocom text adventure game, and recent theatrical movie) is a little different, and I find that I prefer the book very much over all versions except possibly the text adventure game. I truly appreciated this reading by the author, which brings out the delightful absurdity of the plot and its many sidebars. It would be a pleasure to take this audiobook on a summer road trip with a teen or tween in the car.
Wonderfull performance

Douglas Adams is an incredibly witty writer. He is also a brilliant performer, so I recommend listing to the books as he does the voice overs.
All the books in the series are great, but the first is by far my favorite.
