Upbeat Sounds, Ironic Lyrics submitted by Meginator on July 7, 2017, 2:13pm Nellie McKay is hilarious, and though this isn't a comedy album per sé, the juxtaposition of upbeat, jazzy, Broadway-style instrumentation and less happy, often explicit lyrics is a winning combination. The lyrics themselves are often just as funny outside of the context of the music, and many are feminist in nature; with the music, they create an incongruous delight. This album is deeper than you might expect and is a pleasure to listen to.
