Part-time pest-control man and full-time drug addict Bill Lee (Weller) seeks escape from his troubled existence in 1953 New York and flees to Interzone (a hallucinatory version of Tangiers) where reality and fantasy have merged. It's a strange, surreal landscape inhabited by mugwumps, half-alien, half-insect creatures, man-sized centipedes, carnivorous typewriters and bizarre humans. Compelled to make sense of this alien territory, he writes a book called "Naked lunch."

One hot mess of an hallucination submitted by mandevil on December 27, 2020, 9:05pm Very weird and not in a good way.

I can think of at least two things wrong with that title! submitted by answer-beat on January 23, 2022, 8:31pm I read the book first so I knew what I was getting into. Overall I liked the book better, even though this isn't really the same thing as the book at all, being based on Burroughs' own life story as well as his writings. The Ornette Coleman soundtrack though!

Amazing Movie submitted by SaraP on July 27, 2022, 6:32am I saw this in the theater when I was in high school, and I've revisited it every few years. A hallucinogenic blend of the book and the biographical details of the time Burroughs spend writing it. Score by Ornette Colman and featuring some pretty standard Cronenberg bug imagery. I love it.
