Good Adaption submitted by alumeng.ajl on July 21, 2012, 1:03pm This is a pretty good adaption. I have yet to see the original film, but I have seen the musical, and this is a good interpretation of it.

A worthy update submitted by FordAlpha on August 13, 2019, 10:25pm I'm a fan of "The Music Man", and I enjoyed this revival very much. The tweaks and updates to the story are mostly subtle, but they give some of the characters more believable motivations and story arcs. The choreography and cinematography are splendid, and Matthew Broderick and Kristin Chenoweth are terrific in the title roles. Broderick's interpretation of the role is quite different from Robert Preston's, as it should be; if he'd tried to recreate the same portrayal, it would have come off as merely imitative.

Interesting that it was remade submitted by ccrose on August 26, 2019, 9:59am I would think the appeal of this movie could have gone to anachronistic thinking.
Great songs!

Nice Alternative submitted by kathscot on June 11, 2021, 2:34pm I've seen the original many times and expected to be disappointed by this remake, but I wasn't.
The sets and costumes are beautiful and more believable, the singing and dancing enjoyable.
