Totally, freakishly, awesome... submitted by Kikumatsu97 on July 27, 2015, 1:59pm This movie has a kind of cult following. It's even been named the 175th greatest film of all time in 2008, by Empire Magazine. That's saying something. It's a story about a boy, (Jason Shwartzman) and his relationship to and with the adults in his life. Wes Anderson makes the unrealistic and imporbable come to life in a realistic and prbable way with little effort. He seamlessly blends the characters together in this movie about, unrequited love, jealousy, rivalry, and unlikely friendship. It's a feel good movie too. It's just totally neutral in how it makes you feel, it's funny and thoughtful, but it's also really impactful at times.

This should be in your top ten submitted by wendylv on July 29, 2015, 9:39pm Does it get any more Wes Anderson than this? Clever, bittersweet, and hilarious---it's all here.

Underrate Wes Anderson Film submitted by KJRULEZ on July 31, 2016, 7:01pm Like so many other people, I love Wes Anderson films, and this is no exception. Unfortunately it seems that this movie has been forgotten in favor of his more recent releases (which are also great)--but it's one of the best. While not quite as visually pleasing as its successors, the story, the characters, and the cinematography are all great.

Great movie submitted by Harlowamy on August 30, 2020, 9:21pm Wes Anderson at his best. Totally recommend

Overrated submitted by jibkidder on June 22, 2022, 10:56pm I'm not a Wes Anderson fan anyways, but I nevertheless think the movie that followed this one up is a real improvement and realization of the ideas he is playing around with on this one. But that is also where he ramps of the extreme stylization, so maybe there is less that is overdetermined in this one.

Heartfelt and funny submitted by sumsaylor on July 17, 2022, 12:49pm Bill Murray's performance is reason enough to watch this movie: the pool scene, the way he interacts with Schwartzman, the elevator scene--all remarkable moments. A quirky movie, it's true, but one with heart. The relationship between the main character and his dad speaks subtly about class, fathers and sons, the weight of expectations. A wonderful mix of satire and heart, cleverly made, well-directed, great soundtrack. Check it out!

Jason Swartzman submitted by mandevil on December 30, 2023, 7:46am Great cast. Love the scene when jason gives bill murray his perfect attendance pin
