Doesn't Live Up to Expectations submitted by Sonia on June 17, 2012, 7:44am I love Raiders of the Lost Ark so I thought Temple of Doom would be on the same level. Unfortunately I thought many of the characters were annoyingly over the top. Indiana's love interest Willie Scott is a night club singer who spends the entire movie having a meltdown with no redeeming qualities that I could see. He also brings along his new sidekick Short Round who also seems pretty useless. I would strongly suggest sticking to the Raiders of the Ark or pass this over for the Last Crusade and save yourself two hours of ridiculousness.

Don't Hate! submitted by crazypockets on July 12, 2013, 4:57pm Come on! How can you not love this delightfully ridiculous piece of cinematic, 80s gold? It still makes me laugh to this day what crazy misconceptions of Indian culture are in this movie. Really? Chilled monkey brains? But it's a great adventure with some hilarious parts. Just go with it; Indiana Jones is not meant to be over-thought. It's fun!

Classic submitted by ishhewitt on July 10, 2016, 1:37pm I can't say it enough, classic classic classic. Watch it.

Fun movie ro watch! submitted by vulke99 on August 15, 2020, 9:55pm very good movie. Have watched this multiple times and enjoy it each time!.

A Racist, Sadistic Trainwreck Unworthy of Your Time submitted by Meginator on August 20, 2020, 12:53am Content Warning: This film includes scenes portraying child abuse, child enslavement, torture, a hanging, people falling from heights, insects crawling on people, and people eating insects, live snakes, monkey brains, and eyeballs, in addition to rampant racism. Proceed with caution or, better, skip it entirely.

This racist, misogynist, and sadistic trainwreck of a film is a stain on the Indiana Jones franchise and on cinematic history, and it is unquestionably one of the most unpleasant viewing experiences I have ever encountered. The entire premise relies on an exaggerated and offensive portrayal of Indian religious customs, and as if that wasn’t bad enough, the script also saddles Indy with an unbelievably vapid female sidekick who has no redeeming qualities at the outset and develops none during the course of the film's events. This marks an almost unfathomable departure from the (relatively) progressive Marion from “Raiders” and offers nothing whatsoever to the plot except an utterly unnecessary so-called love story that doesn’t advance either character’s individual development. In a genre loaded with racism, this film’s problematic elements go out of their way to be as exaggerated as possible without even bothering to serve any meaningful narrative purposes; the only point is to be offensive, and it’s absolutely agonizing to watch.

This is a poorly conceived, poorly realized film, and a few genuinely amazing action scenes (including a truly spectacular mine cart chase straight out of a million video games) cannot redeem this horrid exercise in sadism.

Fun for the family submitted by bjkoch on July 16, 2022, 8:42pm New old classic

Excellent Scenes submitted by MikkiMoscara on June 29, 2023, 10:18am I really liked Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. It moved quicker and it seemed like there was more going on compared to Raiders of the Lost Ark. It keeps you interested. Now I know why I saw this movie more than the other Indiana Jones movies, growing up.

Classic submitted by rachelmcglash on August 17, 2023, 3:27pm Not my favorite of the Dr. Jones films but still worth the time.
