Interesting submitted by LVDS on July 23, 2015, 1:45pm Good movie about the lives of Frida beginning ~ 1922, from Artist by her own talent,to wife of famous Mexican world-renowned artist Diego. He's done some of the big murals in the Detroit Institute of Art. She had lots of trials in her life and affairs (some male & female graphic in movie, husband also womanizer). Beautiful Art. Also lots of political commentary, they were communist...so gave some history I certainly wasn't aware of.

Beautiful and Haunting submitted by sara on June 18, 2020, 11:42am A beautiful and haunting movie in which her paintings came to life as did her dreams. I hope Frida actually had a much fun as she appeared to have to balance out the horrible medical issues she dealt with throughout her life. The one criticism I have, is the faky Mexican accents used by the American actors speaking English. It was often difficult to understand what was being said.

What a Couple! submitted by ekjensen on July 15, 2020, 9:03am Salma Hayek and Alfred Molina bring a vibrant, volatile, and vicious portrayal of Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera to the big (and small) screen. Sometimes, despite the crippling trolley accent, Salma seems a little too strong physically in her version of Frida, and Alfred seems a bit too old for the womanizing role. The Leon Trotsky storyline addition to the movie was interesting, but a curious sidebar, and yet emphasizing, once again, Diego Rivera's obsession with communism?

Salma Hayek is marvelous submitted by laurenmccarthya2 on June 17, 2023, 8:37am Little touches like recreating photographs from Frida's youth, and bringing her drawings to life with overlays took the film itself beyond an ordinary biography. it was lovely seeing her having a life beyond her infirmities and painting.
