A Packed Tale submitted by DBJC on June 17, 2017, 6:22pm Ruth Ozeki's novel is packed with layers of storytelling. This novel is more than a story about father and daughters, potatoes, and rebellious young adults, it's a book about the importance of "crossing genes" or the "cross-pollination" of cultures and peoples. Though this novel isn't written for the contemporary audience, it is still relative to values that we, as human beings, may hold valuable today. I wish I had more time to digest this novel when I read it, but i didn't regret reading it. It was a bit slow at some parts, as Ozeki knows her agriculture, specifically potatoes, and doesn't hesitate to give readers a full taste. 3.5/5 stars.
