COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Musical Theatre from a Certain Point of View submitted by Meginator on August 11, 2021, 5:06pm This album is an absolute powerhouse of all-time great showtunes, and it doesn’t even include some of Sondheim’s most memorable works! Recorded in 1973, this one-night celebration includes several stars taking on some of the best works from his extensive catalog, and the combination of a solid song selection and outstanding vocal performances makes most of these songs resonate even without the fuller context of the musicals in which they appear. This is a great introduction to a certain era of musical theater and the various song styles and tropes that frequently appear even to this day.
