COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Giveresque submitted by marshd on August 3, 2010, 1:51pm Garth Nix's Seventh Tower series is highly reminiscent of Lois Lowry's The Giver. The society presented in the series, the first book of which is The Fall, is presumed to be without fault. Yet, as our hero Tal discovers, the life he leads is a bit more corrupt than he had ever imagined.

The series follows young Tal as he searches for his missing father. Peril after peril faces Tal as he learns that being born into a position of what he thought was power turns out to be more dangerous and less true than he had been taught.

Among the other characters in the series are the headstrong and angry Milla; Tal's eccentric and ingenious Uncle Ebbitt, and the "evil" Shadowmaster Sushin.

This series is great for younger readers who like magic; boys and girls will both be able to identify with main characters.
