While he's investigating the government's effort to terraform the planet, a solar power satellite collides with an ore freighter, and Miles must discover if it was an accident or sabotage. In the process, Miles uncovers a dangerous conspiracy against the Barrayaran Empire, he falls in love with a local woman.
The Vorkosigan series is highly entertaining, so I recommend reading all of them, although it is best to read them in order. While the series first began in the 1980s, it portrays people with disabilities and LGBT people. Although he lives in a society highly prejudiced against people with disabilities, Miles chafes against and blows apart restrictions placed upon him and others.
