Art theft in an always interesting setting submitted by bec on July 9, 2019, 11:54am This book brings Brunetti and the familiar characters of the Questura back together with Flavia Petrelli and Brett Lynch, who we met in the first book in the series (Death at La Fenice). When Lynch, an art historian/archeologist, is beaten in her apartment and threatened away from an upcoming meeting with the head of a prominent Venice museum, Brunetti and company find themselves caught up in the world of international art crime. I'm always grateful for Brunetti, who is a kind of antidote to the trope of the dysfunctional detective in crime fiction. As ever, the setting is vivid, the explorations of Italy and the art world fascinating, and the characters' differing personalities a pleasure to read.
