Virtuoso Jazz Piano submitted by Meginator on July 15, 2020, 9:33pm The piano comes through quite clearly in the stripped-down instrumentation on this album, moving along at a good pace and emphasizing Duke Ellington’s virtuoso skills. Though the music is modern, Ellington’s ragtime and blues influences are evident throughout his solos, which are the unquestionable highlight. The drums and piano occasionally drift away from each other, but that’s a minor quibble on an otherwise outstanding album that should appeal to a wide range of listeners.
