What would change if we could see... or change... the past? submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on June 18, 2021, 10:08pm I’ve read this before (wow, before I started reviewing on GoodReads, so a long time ago!) but felt inspired to try it again. I still enjoy this for the thought experiment of not only time travel, but repairing timelines, and repairing the repairs. If we couldn’t do it often, where would we go? Who would decide? It seems outrageous to me that either only a few would make the decision, or that the whole world would agree, so what would drive such a decision? And what about the original premise… that we could simply watch the past. What would that really change in our present? There is enough history available and we ignore it now. Would that change if we could actually SEE history happen?

Besides that Card is a good storyteller, the premise of this book is quite enough to drive me to read and reread it. I found the “current” timeline more compelling than most of Columbus’ past, but couldn’t put the book down during any of it.
