Great Book! submitted by Allison B on August 12, 2013, 6:34pm Okay, I'll admit, I skimmed a little over the facts and figures sections, but this book was seriously fascinating. The Detroit Public Library was pioneering in a lot of ways! Did you know that in the race riots of 1943, it was the eastern base of operations for the federal troops and, shortly thereafter, released a pamphlet promoting racial tolerance that was requested around the country? Just one of the interesting tidbits from this book. Check it out!
