COMMUNITY REVIEWS
Pure Janis submitted by redwood on August 5, 2019, 8:43pm "Piece of My Heart" is on this album, which alone is enough for five stars.
Iconic Vocals submitted by Meginator on June 22, 2020, 5:05pm This album feels so unique, even now, largely because of Janis Joplin’s unmatched vocal style. She absolutely pours her heart out on every song, using her voice as an instrument as much as she uses it to deliver the lyrics. The backing band is no less talented, playing an early style of acid rock that works well enough in a studio environment but comes vibrantly to life in the live tracks. This is one of rock’s defining albums, including some of Joplin’s most iconic vocal performances and cramped full of raw emotion.
Terrific submitted by KidBlue on February 15, 2022, 8:35am Perhaps the finest example of psychedelic hippie blues ever made. One thing is for sure, Janis is awesome, and Piece of My Heart is a stone classic.
