Seven of these songs are absolutely submitted by tbbrown76 on July 18, 2014, 1:57pm great. The others are so-so. Give it a listen.

As collections go, this and its partner are pretty good. submitted by lisa on July 24, 2018, 2:21pm Love the early years especially.

Overall submitted by markwells on August 7, 2019, 12:28pm Overall this album is simply great. Individual songs that are masterpieces: I am the Walrus, and Strawberry Fields. Grade: A.

Trippy submitted by pepemama on June 19, 2020, 1:21pm Listen to this album and hear all of their creativity. More than any other band by a long stretch.

soundtrack plus singles submitted by tisaallen on June 15, 2022, 10:24am The film is kind of a mess but this album is pretty good. It was originally released as an EP in the UK but this version includes non-album singles from the era on the second half.

I am the Walrus submitted by wilcomea on July 19, 2022, 4:11pm Super fun experiment!

Falls a Bit Adrift submitted by Meginator on June 12, 2023, 11:51pm This album is incredibly uneven in style and quality, and the music feels a bit unfocused and adrift. The psychedelia of “Magical Mystery Tour” contrasts greatly, yet doesn’t quite clash unpleasantly, with the throwback Merseybeat-adjacent pop of “Hello Goodbye” and “Penny Lane”; all of these are great songs, but they feel strangely out of place amongst each other. You can almost hear the band drifting apart through the music, and it’s remarkable that they were able to create such excellent songs despite all of the extracurricular interpersonal conflicts. Yet, at the end of the day, those cracks do unfortunately show through here and there, and for every forward-thinking innovation and great singalong jam there’s something disappointing, something that doesn’t quite click or linger in the memory. This is still worth listening to as a complete album for Beatles completionists or anyone interested in the rapid development of rock music during this period, but most listeners will be fine simply hitting the highlights (which are, make no mistake, still among the best in the band’s extensive catalog).
