Lying's bad submitted by EstherMaya on August 9, 2013, 5:08pm I thought it was kind of naughty of them when they didn't tell the truth. When they did tell the truth it was really kind of them, but instill knew they should have told the truth before, even if they would have gotten into trouble.

Nice addition to the series! submitted by wookeny on June 24, 2019, 8:11pm The bears did something bad, and they know that if they tell their mom and dad they will be mad, so they try to lie, but at the end they tell the truth. The series are very nice and they are easy rot read!

Holds up. submitted by Emily LB on July 9, 2023, 3:29pm I loved the Berenstein Bear books as a child and have been reading many of them to my kids as well. This one holds up; the lesson about parents not being as upset when children (or cubs) tell the truth than when they lie is aligned with my parenting values. This isn’t true of all their books, as some of them lean a little too hard into traditional gender roles. But this one gets five stars, even if it does make me laugh that Mama Bear is so preoccupied by the well-being of lamps (see also Berenstein Bears and the Slumber Party).
