Not as spooky as I hoped submitted by emilyb308 on August 18, 2020, 1:52pm I have to admit, I was somewhat disappointed with this book. I’d heard that Edith Wharton’s ghost stories were particularly good, but the ones in this collection mostly just left me scratching my head. Ambiguity was a bit too prevalent for my tastes, while genuine ghosts were not prevalent enough. That said, there were a few stories I did enjoy: Afterward and Kerfol had satisfying conclusions, and Miss Mary Pask was deliciously creepy with an unexpected twist.
