COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Fantastic submitted by ljq on July 21, 2011, 8:12am I view this book as a wonderful classic but it's a shame that practically no one knows about it today.
It's a wonderful tale of how a girl changes her name and gets to go to a school because of a mysterious benefactor. And of course, the benefactor, once revealed, is a surprise to everyone.
This is a great story of mystery, friendship and even a hint of romance.

An Anne of Green Gables in letters submitted by gracej on July 22, 2011, 10:13am I thought this was a great book, and relates highly with Anne of Green Gables, one of my favorites.

The book starts out with the main character, Judy, at her orphanage. They feed her and take care of her there,
but she has to work all day making sure her room of orphans is in tip-top order. Then one day she is called by
the headmistress to come to her office and told that an anonymous trustee of the orphanage has paid for her to go
to a college and has been gifted a huge allowance of $35 a month. (Keep in mind, this was written back in 1912.)
The only catch is that she must write to him once a month describing college life, addressing the letters to John
Smith (which is not his real name.)
She does so, and the rest of the book is her letters to him. She intends on being a writer, and her letters are lively
and full of her thoughts on college. She addresses him Daddy Long Legs, as the only thing she knows about him
is that he has long legs, due to his shadow she saw when he was leaving the orphanage, but at the end she gets
to meet him, and it surprises everyone with a very happy ending.

Daddy Long Legs submitted by mvandermark on August 11, 2015, 9:27am I rate this five out of five for being such a sweet book. It is about a orphan named jerusha Abbott who is trying to find her place in the world. it is a story about figuring out who she is and what she wants to do.
