COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Great submitted by LuckyDuck on July 15, 2011, 11:56am good

Cute submitted by ljq on July 21, 2011, 9:43am This book deals with immigration and the hardships that new Americans experienced. As I have written before in a review, these books aren't as interesting as other Historical Girl series. If one is looking for an American Girl book on immigration, I would suggest the Rebecca series as they are more engaging but still address the Ellis Island-era.

Cute! submitted by Margaretta on July 27, 2011, 4:20pm Cute series!

Meet Kirsten submitted by SBNB on July 28, 2012, 11:11pm This is a good book about a girl who leaves Sweden with her family for the US. It is a great story, and it's educational, too!

really young children might struggle with the death of a character submitted by laurat on June 21, 2022, 10:01pm My 1st grader enjoyed this book (she's interested in history) but her younger sister was disturbed by the death of a young character. Just something to be cognizant of.

Great for a read aloud submitted by chleighm on June 26, 2023, 3:58pm "I love when Kirsten gets to play with her new friend." ~ review by a 4 year old
This book brings back so many memories from when I read this as a child and it was enjoyable to introduce my own daughter to the series.
