Funny and enlightening, if a bit dated submitted by Jessamynrm on July 8, 2016, 4:00pm I always like Paul Theroux's writing, and this book is no exception. What's most interesting about this travelogue, besides his actual impressions of the places he travels through on his 'round the coast' British tour, is that it's also a snapshot in time. He wrote the book over thirty years ago, after having lived in London for some time and so much of the content derives from the mismatch between what he's heard about specific places and what he experiences. It's really a study of who British people are as much as it is about what each individual town and region are like.
