Swan lake: Prince Siegfried sees a swan on the lake who turns into the enchanted princess Odette. She can only be saved by the true love of another. This the Prince promises her, but he is tricked by a wicked magician who disguises his daughter as the swan-maiden. Siegfried and his love leap to their death thus destroying the evil power of the magician.
The sleeping beauty: At the christening of a long-wished-for Princess, fairies invited as godmothers offer gifts: beauty, wit, and musical talent. A wicked fairy's gift is an enchantment: when the princess turns 16, she will prick her finger on a spindle and die. This curse is partially reversed by one last fairy, who declares that the princess will instead fall into a deep sleep for 100 years. The king forbids spinning, but inevitably the curse is fulfilled. The good fairy casts a spell of slumber upon the entire kingdom and surrounds the castle with a forest of briar. One hundred years later, a Prince arrives, braves the wood, defeats the wicked fairy, and awakens the Princess with a kiss. The entire kingdom awakes with her, prepares for a wedding, and invites all the fairies along with fairytale characters Puss in Boots, Little Red Riding Hood, and others. The ballet ends with an apotheosis where all the characters make a final bow, and the Prince and Princess live happily ever after.
The nutcracker: Tchaikovsky's musical setting of the Christmas fantasy with musical scenario revised by Peter Wright and the dancing of the Royal Ballet.
