Beau id afraid submitted by jeff gustafson on August 14, 2023, 1:29pm Whew…..I’m done with Ari Aster. If you love weird, this ones for you. This, his third film, is stranger than the first two, which were awfully darn strange. If you just LIKE weird, run away before the attic!

Long and wild submitted by chowcy on August 24, 2023, 1:15pm This one is way less scary than Ari Aster's previous movies, and also not too gory either (comparatively). This is also the first of his to incorporate comedy and I gotta say there are some absurd funny moments. However, this movie will not be for everyone. For one thing, it is extremely long. For another, there is some verbal abuse (and other stuff) that is hard to watch. But the acting is extremely good, it is pretty original, and it is a well-made film. Btw, if you like Mariah Carey, there is a scene that may ruin one of her songs for you. I have warned you

Mommy fearest submitted by tarascon on October 22, 2023, 11:27am Firstly, it helps if one believes Ari Aster is a capable filmmaker—which I do.

During the opening scene in the therapist’s office our fearful hero receives a call from mom. The phone’s screen image features a field of corn which, via weird thematic association, reminded me of “Children of the Corn.”
So there’s that.
I’m afraid this is a darkly funny film. Take that as one will.

Note: one scene of mass gun violence.
