The Super Mario Bros. Movie submitted by SBNB on June 29, 2023, 12:15pm Overall, it was enjoyable. My kids loved it. I wish Yoshi was more a part of it, and I would have preferred if the Brooklyn storyline at the beginning had been shorter. It hit a lot of the fun elements from the video games, but I wanted more--- more battles, more worlds, more of the iconic characters. But I guess there’s only so much you can do in 90 minutes while still trying to include a plot. There were some funny moments, some memorable lines, and there was a satisfying ending. So all in all, I liked it, but I left the theater wanting more.

I went into this is incredibly low standards. Not only was I pleasantly surprised, I actually looked forward to watching it again. Now that my kids have watched it 57 times, I still find myself chuckling at a joke I hadn’t caught before.

Fun for mario fans and kids submitted by paserbamr on July 10, 2023, 6:40pm It was certainly fun hearing all the old themes mixed into the soundtrack, and I loved trying to catch all the Nintendo references! And of course Jack Black was fantastic. Past that, unfortunately, the movie doesn’t have much going for it in terms of plot.

They not only honored all the references and the character origins from the video games, and other means of media, but they put some effort into this film. I loved every part of this film. The animation was gorgeous, and the voice cast was perfect. Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Anya Taylor Joy, Seth, Rogen, and Jack Black and everyone else were fantastic in the film. They even got the original voice of Mario played by Charles Marinet from the video games to do voices of the secondary characters. It’s not just a kids movie. It’s also an adult movie and a family movie. If you haven’t watched it yet, you really should give the movie a chance it’s perfect for fans of the super Mario brothers franchise.
