What was I thinking? submitted by tarascon on September 13, 2023, 5:48pm Didn’t love the first one because of all the plot thefts (“Dances with Wolves” et al) and the cliche of the “white savior” trope but this one was no-holds-barred cultural appropriation, maximum digital fluff, and general banality. And before you simply explain me away as “woke” think about it; isn’t it a bit late in cinematic history to still make this kind of thing? John Wayne passed a long time ago.
Whatever credit Cameron had with me (“Abyss” for instance) evaporated with this wild wild west, circle the wagons horseshit.
