Captivating musical writing and rich characters submitted by gw on July 14, 2023, 10:19pm This is a dense book--it took me longer to read each page than the average book--but I enjoyed every minute. The story is told from multiple characters' perspectives, and each character who gets a voice is unique and mostly well developed. I was somehow rooting for them all. The descriptions of the music being played were just right for a story about a music competition--it was like the music was being painted into art and made it more of a magical experience without getting bogged down in musical notes and technicalities.
