Living as a child in a family cult submitted by hiker15 on June 12, 2023, 9:36pm This memoir is very sad, it is disturbing what the author experienced as a child living in a cult headed by her grandfather. Her father was physically abusive and her mother was distant and often made her fend for herself. The only reason I read this book is because the review said she included info on surviving on indigenous plants - - however, because the cult was in a mountainous area of California, most of the plants she describes are not available in Michigan. I do not recommend this book.
