The plot is simplistic. The protagonists are either very very good or outlandishly evil. The dialog is full of platitudes, hyperboles and psychobable. The author's favorite descriptive adjectives are: "amazing," "beautiful," and "great."
The primary suspects end up being the perpetrators.
Frankly I don't understand how this book ended up on the New York Times best seller list unless the New York Times caters to people who are dumber than I thought.
