An incredibly fun read! submitted by rshah on July 18, 2023, 2:01am While the beginning of the plot seems a lot like another popular series, once the story gets going, the similarities fall away, and it becomes a truly wonderful book in its own right. Part of what makes this book so good is that it is unapologetically Lebanese/Arab. The setting, the history, and the characters all come together for a truly unique plot. It also avoids certain plot holes that I find frustrating in other books of this type. (You are not, for instance, wondering why the kid is the only one trying to fix things because not only is there a good reason for it but the explanation is also a key part of the plot.) So, if you’re looking for an Arabic story that is science-y with characters that are fantastic and not stereotypes, I highly recommend this one.
