Stripped Down submitted by Meginator on June 24, 2023, 9:51pm This album has a bit of a rough-around-the-edges feel to it (especially on the home-recorded tracks) that works well with Patty Griffin’s simple, stripped-down songwriting style. The songs are primarily solo pieces featuring vocals paired with guitar or piano, with the exceptions of two full-band tracks and an instrumental composition. Given that these are essentially b-sides, they aren’t quite as strong as Griffin’s best work, but even so they are still excellent examples of modern folk songwriting and a treat for anyone who appreciates Griffin’s music.
