"Published simultaneously in Britain by Sphere: August 2022."--Title page verso.
The latest installment in the highly acclaimed, internationally bestselling Strike series finds Cormoran and Robin ensnared in another winding, wicked case. When frantic, disheveled Edie Ledwell appears in the office begging to speak to her, private detective Robin Ellacott doesn't know quite what to make of the situation. The cocreator of a popular cartoon, The Ink Black Heart, Edie is being persecuted by a mysterious online figure who goes by the pseudonym of Anomie. Edie is desperate to uncover Anomie's true identity. Robin decides that the agency can't help with this--and thinks nothing more of it until a few days later, when she reads the shocking news that Edie has been tasered and then murdered in Highgate Cemetery, the location of The Ink Black Heart. Robin and her business partner, Cormoran Strike, become drawn into the quest to uncover Anomie's true identity. But with a complex web of online aliases, business interests and family conflicts to navigate, Strike and Robin find themselves embroiled in a case that stretches their powers of deduction to the limits--and which threatens them in new and horrifying ways... A gripping, fiendishly clever mystery, The Ink Black Heart is a true tour-de-force.

Ink Black Heart submitted by jldetlefs on October 18, 2022, 10:48pm I do enjoy the Cormoran Strike novels but although this one moves the relationship between Robin and Cormoran along, I found it rather tedious. It dealt with online games and the texting between players. I just skipped over - found it boring. I was not sure how it helped with the plot. I am not a gamer and just felt a bit too much emphasis on that aspect. There are many interesting characters and wish we knew what happened to some of them. Overall a bit disappointing but still worth reading if you are a true fan.

Another great Cormoran Strike novel submitted by adimarzo on July 25, 2023, 10:57am The latest Cormoran Strike novel is another great book by Galbraith/Rowling. I enjoyed the gaming/online community aspects (and I am not a gamer). The characters were well developed and the interplay between Robin and Cormoran continued to evolve. I was surprised after I sped through it (in e-book version) to discover that it was over 1000 pages. It did not read like a long book.

About 300 pages too long submitted by bookher on August 11, 2023, 10:28am I really want to hate these books but I find myself sucked into each one. I agree with other reviewers that Rowling gets way too bogged down in tedious details that, in the end, are not relevant to the story. That said, I have to give it 4 stars because I always look forward to the next one.
