The New Riot Grrrls submitted by Meginator on June 29, 2023, 11:11am Sure, this album is a little raw and unrefined, but that’s the whole point of riot grrrl, and it’s remarkable how this group of teenagers is able to successfully capture and adapt that musical movement for the modern era. The songs are quick and punchy, getting straight to the point without much in the way of extra ornamentation but with conviction and emotion to spare; they clearly have a strong idea of who they are and what music they want to create, and by and large they pull it off. If this is where riot grrrl and pop-punk are heading, I’d say the kids are all right.
