For more than a decade, parents Andy and Vicky have been on the run, desperate to hide their daughter Charlie from a shadowy federal agency that wants to harness her unprecedented gift for creating fire into a weapon of mass destruction. Andy has taught Charlie how to defuse her power, which is triggered by anger or pain. But as Charlie turns eleven, the fire becomes harder and harder to control. After an incident reveals the family's location, a mysterious operative is deployed to hunt down the family and seize Charlie once and for all. Charlie has other plans.

Firestarter submitted by jibkidder on July 26, 2022, 9:54pm This Stephen King adaptation is mostly early 80s scifi horror camp but is lifted a little by Barrymore's great performance and even more by the excellent Tangerine Dream soundtrack. Clearly had a very big impact on "Stranger Things".

No good submitted by manz on September 9, 2022, 11:12am I didn't expect this to be good, and it wasn't. I fell asleep three times. I prefer the original film adaptation with Drew Barrymore saying BACK OFF a million times. This version tried to be too Stranger Thingsy, which is funny because Stranger Things was totally influenced by the original Firestarter novel and film!

The best and only good thing was MUSIC BY JOHN CARPENTER.
