Neither Fish nor Fowl submitted by tarascon on May 30, 2023, 12:12pm Modestly interesting if you enjoy derivative dramas that play like unfunny comedy. Thing is, I couldn’t tell which kind of critter this is meant to be. I like slow cinema but in a story about drug dealers with a fair amount of killing sprinkled throughout this one is a kind of “shoegazer.” It’s not a bad film but it’s oddly desultory.
I went for it because John Malkovich and Michael K. Williams are in it. And Mr. Williams’ demise is a true loss because he would’ve been one of the great actors of our era had he lived—hell, he was already great. If you’ve never seen his work go back and watch The Wire.
