Encouraging submitted by kkjammers on June 22, 2023, 9:19pm This book is a helpful, friendly, easy-to-read collection of strategies Obama uses to navigate life. Although much of her life has been spent in the public eye, readers who are not famous will still be able to relate to her stories and advice. She offers tools for helping to manage “uncertain times” and the difficulties our society and political world, especially, can present. If you have had not made it to a therapist’s office or session, for whatever reason, this book offers support and understanding - a partial stand-in. I particularly like this passage: “[feel your emotions] “…but be careful about letting them guide you. Rage can be a dirty windshield. Hurt is like a broken steering wheel. Disappointment will only ride, sulking and unhelpful, in the back seat. If you don’t do something constructive with them, they’ll take you straight into a ditch.”

Good follow up to Becoming submitted by clk.9123 on August 14, 2023, 5:18pm I liked this as a follow up to Michelle's first book/her memoir "Becoming" because it focused on the applied and practical methods that helped her get through challenging times. She really opened up in Becoming, but this was her place to shine more about the tips and tricks and wisdom that she has picked up along the way.
