The best of Hawaii -- Suggested Hawaii itineraries -- Hawaii in context -- Oahu -- Hawaii, the big island -- Maui -- Molokai -- Lanai -- Kauai -- Planning your trip to Hawaii.
Say "Aloha" to the Hawaii of your dreams! Snorkel in the translucent seas of a palm-fringed lagoon, take a stroll on a field of black lava or lush rainforest trail, relax on a green-sand beach where sea turtles bask in the sun, see the world's first acquaculture in an ancient royal fishpond, dance the hula to the seductive beat of pahu drums, rest in quaint B&B's or plush oceanfront resorts, and sample the delicious food of Hawaii Regional Cuisine, where innovative chefs find inspiration in the fresh bounty grown in the island's rich volcanic soil. Fully re-researched after the pandemic lockdowns, the authors of this guide have personally visited every hotel, shop, restaurant, attraction, and nightspot listed in this book, and hundreds more, to guide you on the trip of a lifetime!

Not All That Helpful submitted by Meginator on June 17, 2023, 11:48pm This slick travel guide has an air of artificiality to it that, while not uncommon for the genre, still feels a little bit extra to me. Unlike other travel guides, this one leads with historical information about Hawai’i rather than including it as an afterthought, which is nice, but it is sparse on crucial cultural context and seems to gloss over some very important issues regarding Hawaiian tourism. The book’s individual recommendations are lengthier and more descriptive than in other guides, particularly those with a similarly broad scope, but are fewer in number; most travelers will be best served by supplementing this with additional recommendations once they have figured out the broad outlines of their trip. I also found the organizational scheme to be a bit confusing, as it is organized by theme (activities, lodging, restaurants, etc.) more than by geography; this could be helpful for travelers who know what types of activities they enjoy, but the authors use too many divisions and the guide is not at all streamlined as a result. This is the type of book to consult at the very beginning of the process, unless you’re the kind of traveler who enjoys hitting the most popular places and only the most popular places. This could be good for a lot of travelers, but it isn’t suited to my particular preferences at all.
