"How do you talk about and make sense of your life when you grew up with parents who survived the most unimaginable horrors of family separation, systematic murder and unending encounters of inhumanity? COMMUNITY REVIEWS

Illuminating and Precious submitted by ajegherman on June 20, 2022, 8:27am The Ones Who Remember is a collection of short memoirs written by people in our community who grew up with parents who survived the Holocaust. While the lessons of the Holocaust are a part of our collective history, these personal stories tell of the rebuilt lives and families after liberation. While every story is unique and the families each had to find their own way, there are common threads that illuminate a childhood where the responsibility to live well and remember was an implicit part of growing up. The authors bring us into their lives and share with us how they learned of their parents lives before, during and after the Holocaust. The authors bring us into their personal and communal struggle to make sense of their own lives as well as the patchwork quilt of the their own parents lives and communities. Tender, informative and honest and a real treasure for readers and I hope of the authors as well.
