"Melody Ellison loves singing and gardening, and is inspired by friends and family and the Civil Rights Movement to make changes in her community. Melody's story of leadership and making one's voice heard is sure to engage today's readers as they learn what it was like to be a girl in 1964"-- Amazon

COMMUNITY REVIEWS
Somewhat boring dtory submitted by margaretfrye on June 17, 2023, 9:02pm My 6 year old was excited to read this to her doll Melody. She was able to read most of the words (needed help on a few longer ones) but didn’t seem that into the story, which was mostly about a community garden that needed cleaning up. The link between the garden and the racism was pretty tenuous, and the book went from dealing with racism to her cleaning litter with little segue.
