Nothing Unexpected submitted by Meginator on August 27, 2022, 9:30pm If you’ve heard anything the Red Hot Chili Peppers have done since the mid-90s, you know exactly what to expect from this album, with John Frusciate’s return restoring some of the band’s classic sound. The tracks are easygoing pop rock, with hints of funk occasionally popping through but in no way prominent, and while the album lacks any truly standout tracks it is incredibly consistent from start to finish. This music won’t win the band any new fans (except maybe someone who has never heard of them before and who really enjoys their style), but by this point you know what you’re getting with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and, in that sense, this album is completely satisfying.
