Two years of stalking the streets as the Batman, striking fear into the hearts of criminals, has led Bruce Wayne deep into the shadows of Gotham City.€€With only a few trusted allies, Alfred Pennyworth, Lt. James Gordon, amongst the city's corrupt network of officials and high-profile figures, the lone vigilante has established himself as the sole embodiment of vengeance amongst his fellow citizens. When a killer targets Gotham's elite with a series of sadistic machinations, a trail of cryptic clues sends the World's Greatest Detective on an investigation into the underworld, where he encounters such characters as Selina Kyle/aka Catwoman, Oswald Cobblepot/aka the Penguin, Carmine Falcone, and Edward Nashton/aka the Riddler.€€As the evidence begins to lead closer to home and the scale of the perpetrator's plans becomes clear, Batman must forge new relationships, unmask the culprit, and bring justice to the abuse of power and corruption that has long plagued Gotham City.

COMMUNITY REVIEWS

The batman 22 submitted by yufamily on June 10, 2022, 12:54pm Robert Pattinson is a convincing batman. It's a pretty engaging movie but it's quite long; close to 3 hrs.

Dark submitted by Xris on June 19, 2022, 1:16am It's a dark movie, with little humor to alleviate the darkness. Still a good Batman movie, and I was amazed that it was Colin Farrell as the Penguin. You can't really see it! More of a bare-bones type Batman too.

Batman submitted by Clown81 on July 5, 2022, 11:42pm A very long movie.

The most realistic batman submitted by Kitty4777 on August 3, 2022, 8:52pm Batman from the 1990s Batman: The Animated Series gave unrealistic expectations about the amount of time/energy/social life someone could have while running massive businesses, going to parties, and fighting crime at night.

This Batman is showing us that you really can't have it all, and you're going to have some things fall off the wayside if you're an insomniac with an insane, traumatic upbringing.

My only complaint is that the romance felt forced. I mean, it technically was... because cannon, but I don't think these two had inherent chemistry, so I'm glad it really didn't go anywhere! the movie didn't need it!

severely overrated submitted by pmheard on June 9, 2023, 11:13am what a sheer waste of 3 hours. batman does a whole lot of brooding and not much else. his “detective skills” include scribbling on the floor and standing around. and him literally facetiming the riddler has got to be the most camp shit i’ve ever seen in my life. on top of that the riddler is a fucking influencer, with fans? like come on. it’s so laughable. if this were listed as a comedy i would have rated it higher.

on a more serious note, i genuinely didn’t like it. the score was excellent, nirvana aside, but the rest… lackluster. the acting of a majority of the primary characters was frankly quite disappointing and bland. the chemistry between batman and catwoman was a) lacking any relevance or context and b) not there on screen. it felt like they were just making two hot people kiss because, well, it’s hot. but anyways, i enjoyed around the first 60 to 90-ish minutes and admired the persona being developed for the riddler, a mysteriously disgruntled citizen, critiquing the system. besides the fact that the plot was entirely jumbled and mostly followed batman as he trailed 5 steps behind every clue, it was generally good. where it all went downhill was when it suddenly dropped the entire message being crafted and adopted this weird and confusing story about orphans and loving politicians and the city and whatnot. it was just…. no. the cinematography, however, was so close to being good for me, but ultimately lacked depth and connection to the story.

i love superheroes and superhero movies, but this one was just not for me. i really wish i liked it, but if i were to rate it any higher i would be lying.
