Who's the audience? submitted by FordAlpha on August 2, 2023, 11:56pm I always love Dan Santat's illustrations, and the story is certainly cute; there are moments humorous enough for young kids to relate to, and the concept tugs the parent's heartstrings. But it's not clear who is really the target audience for a book like this: nostalgic empty nesters remembering the all-too-fleeting joys and travails of raising children? Eighteen-year-old graduates who probably aren't that interested in picture books? Young kids being read to at storytime, over whose heads the whole concept will pass? Anyway, it's charming and well executed.
