Presumably Better As a Full Show submitted by Meginator on July 10, 2023, 11:37pm I am a huge fan of the Back to the Future trilogy and I generally enjoy Broadway-style musical theater productions, and while I bet that this stage production is a lot of fun (and I will definitely go see it when I get the chance), the musical content on its own is uninspiring at best. While the vocal performances feel spot-on for these familiar characters, the songs themselves are inconsistent and don’t do much to advance the storyline or character development in meaningful ways; most are far too brief, and it’s difficult to pinpoint recurring musical themes between songs. Hopefully the songs are more effective in the context of the show, because in isolation they feel amateurish and simplistic, failing to understand or achieve the purposes that musical numbers typically serve in this type of show.
