Good But Over-Produced in Places submitted by Meginator on August 27, 2022, 6:34pm This all-English album from Monsta X has a fairly consistent tone throughout, with an emphasis on slightly lower tempos and the group’s impressive vocal talents. “You Problem” sounds like a direct update from the late-90s/early-00s boy-band scene with its vocal harmonies and its general aesthetic; the rest of the album is more aggressively contemporary, but the songs often include some tell-tale callback elements that connect the modern scene to what came before. Altogether, this is a solid, but not exceptional, album of love songs that showcases some strong vocal talent while feeling just a tiny bit over-produced and inorganic.
