As the descendant of National Socialists, I have no tolerance for radical right ideology and—often part of the same package—racism. Those members of my family who were not nazis and who survived WWII saw the total destruction left in the wake of Hitler’s lunacy.
Thus I learned at an early age that Fascism is like a kind of safe room for fearful people with low self esteem and a sense of grievance. Furthermore, weakness has a preference for crowds and weaponry and unfortunately there’s always going to be certain types who believe having a gun in their hand grants them power and strength. It doesn’t; it just means those people are idiots. Possibly dangerous ones.
