COMMUNITY REVIEWS
An example of the kind of memoir I *do* love submitted by Susan4Pax -prev. sueij- on July 14, 2023, 8:34am This is exactly the kind of memoir I have discovered that I love: not a “come rubber-neck the trainwreck of my life,” but instead “let me invite you into a world/topic that you might otherwise not have seen.” DiMarco is a 4th generation Deaf person, immersed in a family and culture of Deaf education and ASL. He does an excellent job giving readers a light but highly relevant history of deafness/Deafness (the medical condition and the community), and how that history has affected his family. Mostly, I read the book understanding his joy at being Deaf. Deafness is not, in any way, a disability for him. Sure, there are accessibility issues, but DiMarco is not ‘less than’ in any of the ways that history has declared so often. Absolutely fantastic, and I flew through it.
